Currently, the market offers B-Scan scanning, which does not include welds, or C-Scan scanning, which has some productivity limitations and access to all regions of interest.

Araujo Engenharia acquired equipment and developed new applications for detecting, sizing and mapping thickness losses through ABCD-Scan ultrasound examination. This service is the solution for detecting and dimensioning loss of thickness in plates and welds. It reconciles the productivity and versatility of the AB-Scan scan (Welds and Sheets) with the registration and sizing accuracy of the C-Scan (includes B, C, D and 3D views).

The service initially develops with the A/B-Scan, which allows access to all regions of interest and also the welds. Worn regions are “mapped” with C-Scan, allowing sizing for calculations and registration for monitoring evolution. Autonomous manual and automatic scanners powered by batteries and reservoirs for couplants (water) are used.
