EC - SEPARATION OF MATERIALS

The eddy current technique can be used to separate materials by their properties. It is applied, for example, to determine regions of equipment that have presented changes in properties due to fire and heat treatment problems, and in the separation of parts mixed with similar materials, such as flanges made of AISI 304 material from flanges of AISI 316. a figure below illustrates the separation of a set of discs by hardness.

The absolute conductivity of a material can also be measured by Eddy-current.
