Short distance guided wave ultrasound examination (approx. 1 meter).
We developed this application as a solution for cases where there is no access to the region of interest, for detecting damage such as loss of thickness in annular tank bottom plates, or the first meter close to the periphery of the bottom, which is the region most susceptible to thickness losses due to corrosion; detection of thickness losses in supported pipes, and also detection of cracks in regions without access.
This last application, for example, was used for detecting and sizing cracks in aluminum silos (figure 2 below) where cracks occur under the vacuum rings, a region inaccessible for other tests.
