STORAGE TANKS
We apply acoustic emission tests on the sides of storage tanks to search for cracks and areas where high stresses act, normally due to loss of thickness due to corrosion.
- Location of leaks in tank bottoms;
- Evaluation and monitoring of the physical state of tank bottoms;
- Inspection of tank sides.
The test is capable of detecting and locating existing leaks at the time of the test, and monitoring changes in the physical state of the bottom of the tank in successive tests, which allows the programming of internal inspections aimed at the regions most likely to be damaged at the appropriate time.
Funds can have the evolution of their physical state monitored by acoustic emission from a “base-line” created during an internal inspection, complete characterization of their physical state and execution of an exam by acoustic emission. It is possible to perform examinations on several tanks with an unknown physical state of the bottom, to determine inspection priority.
The technique is also used to “prioritize” the internal inspection of tank farms.
